Brisbane, the capital, is situated in the south-east corner of the state. The east coast stretches over two thousand kilometers through several coastal townships up to Cairns and Cape Tribulation. A major attraction of Queensland is the Great Barrier Reef which runs almost the entire length of the coast. The temperate climate and crystal clear waters are very conducive to a wide variety of water activities. Unlike the southern states of Australia, the weather is tropical and consists of a wet and dry season. November to May (Summer) is the wet / hot season.
Along the coast of Queensland there are an abundance of things to see and do. These include scuba diving on and around the Barrier Reef, bushwalking at one of the 220 national parks, white-water rafting, sea canoeing, surfing, fishing and much, much more...
