Van Heusen to Buy Calvin Klein for $430 Million
Phillips-Van Heusen Corp. (PVH ) said Tuesday it agreed to buy Calvin Klein Inc., for more than $400 million, in a move to add more designer clothing to its traditional line of dress shirts.Phillips-Van Heusen will pay $400 million in cash and about $30 million in stock, for the 34-year-old New York men's and women's fashion firm known — and sometimes criticized — for risque advertising.

Last Sunday she was reported to be in a coma, having overdosed on sleeping pills.

Now former model Karen Mulder is said to be alive and well and living outside Paris, and that stories of her near death are a crock of lies.

Mulder's former fiancée and closest friend, Jean Yves Le Fur, who was reported to have found the Dutch beauty comatose and surrounded by sleeping pills on Dec. 8, is saying it never happened. "She didn't try to commit suicide," Le Fur told The Post on Friday. "These are just rumors." Models Behaving Badly
They seem to have it all: fame, cash - and a room in rehab (Katrina Tweedie) ON the face of it, they have it all - wealth, fame and perfect looks - but the glamorous life of a supermodel may not be as enviable as it appears. The apparent suicide attempt by model Karen Mulder this week throws the spotlight once again on a profession blighted by drug addiction, eating disorders, depression and loneliness.

The 34-year-old Dutch supermodel was found slumped on the floor of her £730,000 apartment in Paris after taking an overdose of sleeping pills. She was in a coma for two days and is now out of danger, but the fragile psychological trauma which led to her death wish will be harder to beat.

Yet Karen, who shot to fame in the early Nineties as one of the original supermodels, is far from the first to end up in a sorry state.Since the Seventies, the high-profile status and life of excess enjoyed by models has led to many falling off the frenetic rollercoaster.

Thrown into a seemingly glamorous world of celebrities, wealth and opportunity at a tender age, the surface gilt of the profession often hides the grime. Models spend much of their time shuttling from airport to airport, surrounded by a glossy menagerie of people striving for thinness, beauty and a party.

It is a vacuous world obsessed by the cut of your cheekbones and the clothes on your back. read more
