South Australia South Australia has a population of 1.47 million with just over a million people residing
in metropolitan Adelaide. It is the wine making capital of Australia, producing 50% of Australia's wines and 65% of the National wine exports. South Australia also lays claim to being the Opal capital of the world.The state's capital is Adelaide, a cosmopolitan city with an abundance of restaurants and parklands. North of the lush metropolitan and agricultural areas, is classic 'Outback Australia'. Sparsely populated, dry and arid, it has the occasional town popping up in the middle of nowhere.

Adelaide, is located on the River Torrens and is a picturesque city that is surrounded by parklands. It has an abundance of cafes, restaurants and a thriving night club scene. There are a variety of activities and things to see within close proximity to the city. These include, the Adelaide Zoo, Art Gallery of South Australia, the casino, and the South Australian Wine Centre. Outside the city limits are the Adelaide hills. This area offers vistas of the surrounding market gardens, orchards and vineyards. A short drive north is the Barossa Valley which is renowned for the wines it produces. South of Adelaide it the Fleurieu Peninsula, ideal for day trips or relaxing holidays. The Eyre Peninsula is a rugged coastline that stretches to the Western Australia Boarder.

Coober Pedy
Coober Pedy is the largest Opal mining town in Australia. The town is located approximately halfway between Adelaide and Alice Springs in the Northern Territory. It is hot and arid over summer and has a unique landscape which is scattered with mounds of dirt from opal mining.
