He's Developing Russians' Passion for High Fashion
Alexander Dostman, 42, got his start in arts administration in the early 1980s as deputy director of the Park of Culture and Relaxation in the small town of Khmelnitsky, Ukraine, but he didn't stay there long. By the early 1990s, he was a well-known figure on the Moscow cultural scene, organizing Russian tours for the likes of Tom Jones and the Gipsy Kings. In 1994, he established the ARTES Cultural Foundation, which organizes fashion shows, concerts, tours and television programs. Simultaneously, he founded the High Fashion and Pret-a-Porter Association, a trade organization for Russian fashion houses, and in November 1994, ARTES and the association pulled off Russia's first High Fashion Week. Now in its ninth year, High Fashion Week features guest designers from abroad alongside the top Russian fashion houses. read more

DNA AGENT: ELITE OWES MY MODELS BIG BUCKS
ACE Elite agent Louis Chaban, who defected to the DNA agency some months ago along with some of Elite's top money-making mannequins, tells us that Elite won't pony up money it owes the girls for jobs they did before they left. "They're holding money for Erin O'Connor, Karen Elson and Missy Rayder ," Chaban says. He estimates Elite owes them at least a few hundred thousand dollars but says, "We haven't taken any action yet." "We do not like to comment on these types of financial issues - which could also be part of an ongoing legal issue as well - especially when Elite is a company that bills over $100 million in its worldwide operations," declares Elite's rep. read more

Why Do Models Want to Look so Sick
HEY were the most famous curves of the Nineties, making their owner a top- earning supermodel and bagging her a rock star husband. But, as these pictures show, Eva Herzigova is now in danger of becoming better known as the Incredible Shrinking Woman. Posing in a push-up bra and sexy smile, Eva shot to fame as the face and body of the Hello Boys Wonderbra campaign. Overnight, her curves and 36B boobs made her one of the world's top models. Even when she married Tico Torres, the drummer with rock band Bon Jovi, she still made men hot under the collar. But Czech-born Eva is barely recognisable after shedding more than a stone. Her cheekbones jut out and the famous cleavage has all but disappeared. Friends claim Eva's weight loss is an attempt to land more modelling work, but Sky TV fashion correspondent Karen Kay warned that it could be a turn-off. Karen said: "I don't think Eva looks healthy and it's very sad, because she did have lovely curves. read more
